We are always happy to welcome volunteers to join us at Athens Conservancy! There is a place for everyone. Join a committee, help with special events, or get out in the woods with hands-on work in our beautiful preserves.
Meet our volunteer coordinator, Scott Weis, who has always enjoyed spending time in the woods and on the water. Scott lives in Athens, and teaches biology and environmental science at Miller High School in Perry County

Community Volunteer Day: Sunday, September 27
Join us! The September Volunteer Day is Sunday, September 27 (make-up date October 4). Join us for a day of stewarding the land! We will be working on removing woody invasive plant species around the pond at the Mary Beth Zak Lohse Preserve 10am-2pm. Volunteers can stay as long as they’d like. Bring water and some snacks! Email Scott Weis to RSVP at volunteer@athensconservancy.org or fill out the form below.
Monthly volunteer days are scheduled for anyone who wants to get together with others and help with Conservancy work. We’ll post the schedule here, with alternate dates included in case of inclement weather. You will receive emails with details about where to go, what to expect, what to bring, and any changes or cancellations.
Our leaders will always be there to help, and are happy to have you join in! Please note — our volunteer days are open to all from the community, and are set up for individuals (Bring a friend! Bring your partner!). We also welcome organized groups — like clubs or classes — for special work days, but we ask that you contact our volunteer coordinator to arrange one just for your group.
