The Forests Depend on Us All: Healthy Forest Fund
Forests are good for us humans; they make us healthier and happier. They enrich our communities. And they’re essential to the world we live in.
Forests also are our allies in protecting the planet from a rapidly changing climate. As one of Earth’s most carbon-dense ecosystems, forests play a crucial role in mitigating climate change by absorbing and storing massive amounts of carbon that has been released into the atmosphere.
But the forests in southeastern Ohio are vulnerable. We must continue to protect and care for these critical, complex ecosystems, especially in the face of threats from development, logging, and damage from non-native, invasive plant species.

Our ongoing goal is to preserve and expand local forests, and to ensure they are nurtured and resilient. Athens Conservancy’s Healthy Forest Fund is fully dedicated to caring for our lands, keeping them healthy today and for future generations.
Donations to the Healthy Forest Fund strengthen land stewardship efforts to nurture crucial wildlife habitat, and keep 12 miles of foot trails accessible. The fund supports the forest management work of our land steward who prioritizes care of our forests and trails, and oversees the significant field work of interns, AmeriCorps workers, and volunteers.
Please consider supporting the Healthy Forest Fund today; your gift will have tremendous impact on the care of thousands of acres of special spaces and wild places.
