Hockhocking Adena Bikeway

Official Convention & Visitors Bureau Page

The Hockhocking Adena Bikeway began as a small path on the levee wall constructed next to the relocated Hocking River several decades ago. It has grown by bits and pieces since, with the greatest growth occurring when Athens County government created the bikeway section extending from West State Street Park in Athens to Robbins Crossing at Hocking College. The City of Nelsonville has since extended it to the Rocky Boots outlet, while the City of Athens has extended it eastward to Holzer Clinic, at the end of East State Street. It is currently about 21 miles in length.

There are current plans to extend the bikeway eastward to County Road 24A (South Canaan Road), and to build a connector pathway to Athens High School. The Athens Conservancy is working on plans to connect the Moonville Rail-Trail to the bikeway, and to extend and fill in rail-trail right-of-way in the eastern part of Athens County.
