The Athens Conservancy chose the name Canaan Preserve for our new preserve, after considering a number of alternatives suggested by our supporters. This preserve will be featured in the next issue of our occasional newsletter. Stay tuned.
The Canaan Preserve is located in Athens County’s Canaan Township. This 440-acre preserve connects Strouds Run State Park and the Baker Preserve, and offers splendid scenery, including ferny stream bottoms, stunning cliffs and rock shelters, and sun-dappled forest groves on mossy ridgetops.
