Nestled in Athens’ Northpoint neighborhood, our new Peach Preserve consists of a wooded 3.7 acres, just off Peach Ridge Road. The land was generously donated to Athens Conservancy in December 2020 by Diversified Properties of Athens, and is being nurtured as a small, neighborhood conservation preserve.
The preserve’s moniker is the result of a neighborhood naming contest … and we’re delighted that the sweet name was suggested by 10-year-old neighbor Elena Wadley.
In April 2021, local residents led by neighbor Merl Almquist built a double-loop walking trail within Peach Preserve. Thanks to Merl, a set of wooden steps with handrails was also added to improve accessibility of the steep portion where the trail begins on Northpoint Drive. Peach Preserve is open to the public but there is no off-street parking; dogs on leashes are welcome. View, download and print a pdf of the map here.
