This 13.6-acre property was generously donated to Athens Conservancy by Lesli Johnson. It includes a scenic ravine with large old trees, and two former agricultural fields that are now vegetated with young forest. The preserve borders Strouds Run State Park, and part of the park’s Beaver Pond Trail runs along the preserve boundary. The 0.6-mile long trail is mostly level and easy walking, but it dead-ends at a clearing in the woods. The beaver ponds are no longer there.
Visitors can park on a small pull-off (39.367914, -82.049146) on the west side of State Park Road (Twp Road 212) about 500 feet north of the park maintenance office. There is room for two cars at most.
