Buckeye Furnace
State Memorial

Buckeye Furnace is a largely-restored iron furnace, a remnant of pioneer days in Ohio when iron mining and smelting was a significant industry. Other furnaces in the area were Hope Furnace, Richland Furnace, and Vinton Furnace.

Unfortunately, these businesses were always economically marginal at best, and struggled to remain in operation. This was partly due to the low quality of the ore they were using.

Buckeye Furnace also includes an interpretive center, gift shop, and picnic ground.
