The Wildcat Hollow Trail is the only dedicated backpacking trail within the Athens District of the Wayne National Forest. The entire loop is 15 miles long, wholly within the Wayne, but there is a cut-through for a shorter 5-mile loop option.
This trail is located just north of Burr Oak State Park. The trailhead is very close to the backpacking loop trail at Burr Oak, and the two may easily be done in conjunction with each other, for a multi-day hiking experience. As of this time, a hiker only needs to walk about a tenth of a mile of very lightly-travelled gravel backroad between the two (Sunday Creek Road). |

Camping is permitted anywhere on the Wayne National Forest as long as it is away from roads and trails, or except where no camping is posted. Campers are expected to practice no-trace camping and to remove all their trash. However, there are several campsites that have become well-established through usage along the trail.
