Forests are good for us humans; they make us healthier and happier. They enrich our communities. And they’re essential to the world we live in.
Forests are our allies in protecting the planet from a rapidly changing climate. As Earth’s most carbon-dense ecosystems, intact forests — those largely free of human disturbance other than trails — play a crucial role in mitigating climate change. They absorb and store massive amounts of carbon that has been released into the atmosphere. But the forests in southeastern Ohio are vulnerable. We must continue to protect and care for these critical, complex ecosystems, especially in the face of threats from development, logging, and damage from non-native, invasive plant species.
Our ongoing goal is to preserve and expand local forests, and to ensure they are nurtured and resilient. That takes hard work and vision. Our Healthy Forest Fund is fully dedicated to the care of our lands, keeping them healthy today and for future generations.
You can help by donating to the Healthy Forest Fund. Donations support land stewardship efforts, including the work and forest management of a half-time land steward who oversees and prioritizes care of our forests and trails.
Please consider supporting land stewardship efforts today; your gift will have tremendous impact.
The forests depend on us all.
Healthy Forest Friends
We are grateful for all of our Healthy Forest friends, whose donations have tremendous impact on the care of our thousands of acres of special spaces and wild places. Thanks to these donors, we are able to expand and strengthen our efforts to care for our natural lands, nurturing crucial wildlife habitat and keeping 12 miles of foot trails accessible for the public to explore and enjoy. We continue to welcome Healthy Forest friends as partners in our efforts to care for the lands we love.
